ZIZ is a non-commercial foundation. Care through ZIZ is insured care, in which a new form of funding is being evaluated together with health insurers.
 

The aim of ZIZ is to implement affordable, outcome-focused STI care.

Following earlier certification under the Medical Device Directive (MDD), we are currently in the process of certifying the eHealth consultation under the Medical Device Regulation (MDR).  

The eHealth consultation gives testing advice based on the following guidelines. The first guideline takes precedence, with each of the following guidelines serving as an addition.

- LCI guideline seksaccidenten
- HIV Pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) guideline Netherlands

Clinical evaluation of the eHealth consultation is carried out continuously, by manually checking the advice for accuracy with every new registration. There is a quality management system, and any irregularities in the consultation are resolved and incorporated into the next version of the eHealth consultation.

As well as the eHealth consultation, ZIZ uses physical care locations. At these locations, an STI nurse takes blood samples, provides counselling and, where necessary, treatment. A laboratory technician is also present, who carries out the STI diagnostics on site straight away in a separate laboratory room. 

All diagnostics for ZIZ are carried out in line with the ISO 15189 quality frameworks. To this end, the laboratory at the ZIZ location is inspected annually by an external auditor. If the patient gives permission, a letter with the diagnostic results is sent to their GP as standard.
