How do you do an STD test as a man?

For men, we almost always test a urine sample. It is important that you have not urinated for at least one hour before the test.

As well as urine, other parts of the body can be tested, such as your throat or anus. You take these samples yourself, following the instructions provided.

Some tests require a blood sample. If you visit one of our locations, we take the blood sample for you. If you test at home, you do this yourself with a finger-prick test.
